Working to end hunger

The Amana One World network is one of West Africa’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Together with individuals, charities, businesses and government we can end hunger in W. Africa.

Food today. Food security tomorrow.

In Africa, hunger is increasing at an alarming rate. The COVID-19 pandemic, conflict, drought, economic woes, and extreme weather are reversing years of progress. As of 2019, 234 million sub-Saharan Africans were chronically malnourished, more than in any other region. In Africa, 250 million people were experiencing hunger, which is nearly 20% of the population.

For more than 30 years, Amana One World has brought emergency aid and long-term assistance to families and communities in W. Africa. Here are some of the ways we help to overcome the root causes of hunger and malnutrition:

  • Food assistance, including emergency feeding
  • Diagnosis and treatment of childhood malnutrition
  • Water and sanitation to prevent water-related diseases and provide water for irrigation
  • Support for improved, more efficient agriculture and for farmers to diversify livelihoods
  • Land rehabilitation to improve harvests

The Amana One World Network

Thousands of meals, one act of kindness at a time

When you support Amana One World, you are helping our network of food banks deliver programs at the front line of hunger in W. Africa.

Hunger is a complex issue.

When people face hunger, they often struggle to meet other basic needs as well — such as housing, employment and healthcare. That’s why Amana One World is committed to more than providing food for people in need.
